Show Details:

  • This FREE admission show features flower and photo competition exhibits, local artisan vendors, free fun-filled activities, gardening inspiration, and food for purchase.
  • Show date: Saturday, June 20, 2026. Show closures, due to weather, will be announced on our Facebook page.
  • NEW location: The show will be held outside on the grounds of the Everhart Museum in Nay Aug Park, 1901 Mulberry St, Scranton, PA, 18510.
  • Show is open to exhibitors and general public: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with floral exhibits open to the public starting at 12:00 PM or when judging is completed.
  • Free admission to the Everhart Museum (our show partner): 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Competition Rules, Regulations, and Disclaimers:

General Rules

  • Joe Renard, Show Manager, will be hereafter referred to as the “Organizer”
  • No entry fees, and no prize money or cash equivalent.
  • Pre-registration is required for each exhibit; unregistered exhibits will not be accepted or judged.
  • Flower competitors may enter multiple categories; however, multiple exhibits within the SAME category must be different in color or variety as duplicates are not permitted.
  • Photo competitors may enter multiple photo categories, limited to 2 entries per photographer per photo category. Entries allowed from amateur and professional photographers.
  • Open to Pennsylvania residents only.
  • Organizers reserve the right to reject any entry.
  • Category rules must be followed.
  • Organizers have full authority over space allocation.
  • Submission of entry registration constitutes your acceptance of all Competition Rules, Regulations, and Disclaimers.
  • Children 13 or under are permitted to compete with adults in all categories with exception to categories 9-10. All efforts will be made to not share the full names of children under 18 in publications and advertisements.
  • Exhibits will be displayed anonymously for judging purposes. Competitor’s names will only be made visible once all awards, including Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show, have been awarded.
  • DO NOT DRIVE INTO THE SHOW AREA UNLESS IT IS UNAVOIDABLE. Vehicles MUST be removed from the show site by 10:00 AM.

Consent

  • By entering, competitors grant permission for photographs, images, or likenesses of their exhibits to be used, in whole or in part, in publications, social media, and future promotions and advertisements by the Electric City Flower Show and the Everhart Museum. Competitors also consent to the publication of their full name in connection with such materials with exception to exhibitors who, during the registration process, disclosed their age to be under the age of 18.

Floral and Photo Entry Requirements

  • Flower entries must be submitted under the name of the grower or the individual arranging the exhibit, and photo entries must be submitted under the name of the individual that captured the photo.
  • Each flower entry will receive an official entry number that will later correspond to an exhibit ticket. Competitors must notate and remember their entry numbers to aid in exhibit placement the day of the show.
  • Competitors are responsible for correct category labeling; organizers are not liable for errors or removal of tags from the exhibits during the show.

Eligibility & Exhibits

  • Children’s entries (for categories 11-12) must meet the age requirements described for their category.
  • Fresh cut flowers in categories 1-6 MUST have been grown by the exhibitor or legally and locally collected. Store bought flowers in categories 1-6 are NOT permitted; however, they ARE permitted for use in categories 7-12.
  • For flower categories 1-6: Flower exhibitors must use clear glass containers/vases only (no decorations or advertising; bottles/jars permitted). A few stones, clear glass beads, etc., are permitted to add container stability to top-heavy exhibits. Clear water only. Stems must not be wired. Clear tape to create smaller container openings is allowed. 
  • Photo entries MUST be original work, taken by the competitor. No third party may own or control any materials the photo contains, and the photo must not infringe upon trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person.
  • Photo entries MUST be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting images within the frame, with exception to cropping the photo. If either before, during, or after the show it is determined that the photo was altered, it will be disqualified, and the competitor will forfeit awards won and be excluded from future photo competitions.

Floral Exhibit Delivery & Judging

  • Exhibit drop-off: 8:45 - 9:45 AM (Saturday, June 20, 2026) to the flower tent in front of the Everhart Museum. To maintain anonymity, no entries will be accepted after 9:45 AM.
  • Entries placed in the wrong category may be reassigned by organizers before judging.
  • Exhibit tickets must remain attached to the competition table/staging throughout the duration of the show with corresponding exhibits placed directly to the LEFT of each ticket.
  • Competitor’s names on exhibit tickets must remain face-down until judging is complete.
  • Exhibit tickets must NOT be moved by competitors.
  • Judging commences promptly at 10:00 AM (completed by 12:00 PM)
  • No exhibitors or public allowed in the flower tent before 12:00 PM unless judging is complete.
  • Judges must not be approached or disturbed during judging.

Photo Exhibit Voting

  • All eligible photo entries will be posted to the show’s Facebook page the day voting opens.
  • Voting will be open Saturday, May 30th and concludes on Sunday, June 7th 11:59 PM ET.
  • Voting will be conducted via the show’s Facebook voting post. Entries in each photo category with the most ‘Likes’ and ‘Hearts’ combined count will be awarded 1st place, with the runner up awarded 2nd After June 7th, winners will be notified via email and their names posted on the show’s Facebook page.
  • If it is determined by the Organizer that votes have been purchased, those votes identified will not be counted. Since it is not possible to establish who bought the votes, no entry disqualification will be made.

Disqualification

  • Entry registrations must be received before the published deadlines listed on the show’s website Competition Categories page. Registration deadlines: Entries for photo competition close Thursday, May 29th at 11:59 PM ET; flower entry registration closes Wednesday, June 17th at 11:59 PM ET.
  • Exhibits may be removed at the Organizer’s discretion if they are unsightly or below show standards, contain offensive or controversial themes (e.g., weapons, politics, etc.), or pose a risk due to the park and other exhibits due to pests or disease
  • The Organizer’s opinions and decisions are final.

Awards

  • One 1st Place (Blue Ribbon) and one 2nd Place (Red Ribbon) per category
  • All 1st place flower competition winners will be moved to the winner’s table and qualify for:
    • Best in Show (Fuchsia/Black Rosette)
    • Reserve Best in Show (Fuchsia/White Rosette)
  • The perpetual Best in Show trophy will be presented but retained by the Scranton Municipal Recreation Authority for display in Nay Aug Park’s Community Room.
  • 1st and 2nd Place winning photo exhibits will be printed onto photo board (size to be determined by the Organizer) and displayed in the Everhart Museum the day of the show.

Liability

  • Exhibits are entered at the exhibitor’s own risk.
  • Organizers, staff, and volunteers assume no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage of exhibitor’s personal property at any time.

Display & Removal

  • All entries must remain on display for the duration of the show
  • Early removal results in forfeiture of awards won and exclusion from future flower competitions.
  • Flower and Photo Exhibit Pickup time: 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM (June 20, 2026)
  • Unclaimed exhibits remaining after 4:30 PM will be donated or discarded at the discretion of the Organizer, unless other arrangements for pickup have been confirmed with the Organizer.

Conduct & Feedback

  • Judges are not required to provide feedback unless requested by the Organizer
  • Complaints or suggestions may be submitted during the event or via email to
    electriccityflowershow@gmail.com

Final Authority

  • The Organizer’s and all judges’ decisions in all matters are final.

 

Releases/Hold Harmless

The organizers and volunteers of the Electric City Flower Show, Nay Aug Park and the City of Scranton, their staff, affiliates, advertisers, and their sponsors are not liable or responsible for: (i) any claims, damages, losses, injuries, or death including any third party claims, arising from or relating to, in whole or in part, any contest, including entry and participation in any contest and acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prizes (ii) any technical or human errors, malfunctions, failures, etc. resulting in participation of contests.

 

Flower Competitors – Instructions for Day of the Show

  1. Be sure to have read the Rules, Regulations, and Disclaimers for full understanding as they contain information on exhibit drop off and pick up as well as disqualification and award forfeiture for unapproved early exhibit pick up.
  2. YOU SHOULD HAVE A NOTE OF THE EMAILED ENTRY TAG NUMBER(S) FOR YOUR EXHIBITS AND THEIR CORRESPONDING CATEGORY. If you have forgotten your tag number(s) see a volunteer wearing a green apron.
  3. The exhibit ticket(s) will already be in place on the tables and staging in sequential number order within each category. Find the ticket corresponding to your entry.
  4. Place your exhibit directly to the LEFT of the ticket. DO NOT move the ticket to another location. If there is not enough room for your exhibit, or you have any difficulty, ask a volunteer to help. If you move your exhibit to accommodate it, and it is not obviously in the area allocated to the category, it may not be judged. 
  5. Make sure you DO NOT turn over the ticket to show your name. To maintain anonymity during judging, the tag should only display the entry number.
  6. Exhibits will only be accepted 8:45 - 9:45am on the day of the show. Late arrivals will not be accepted or judged.
  7. Judging will begin promptly at 10:00 AM and is planned to end by 12:00 PM (noon). It may take longer, please be patient. There will be an announcement once ribbons are awarded.
  8. DO NOT approach or interrupt the judges. You will be allowed access to the competition area once judging is complete.
  9. 1st place flower competition winners will be moved to the winner's table where Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show will be awarded, only then will tickets be turned to display the winning competitor’s names.
